Creative & Technical Direction / Contracting Agent – Salmonella Dub
Formed nineteen years ago in Christchurch NZ, Salmonella Dub have rightfully been called the pioneers and originators of a unique Pacific style of Dub/Drum ‘n’Bass/Reggae/Hip Hop and Groove based Rock. Acts such as Fat Freddy’s Drop, Scribe & P Money, Shapeshifter, Cornerstone Roots, Kora, King Kapisi as well as the new wave of Australian acts like Budspells, Rastawookie, King Tide, Red Eyes, and the likes, can all thank Salmonella Dub for paving the way to opening Australian ears to an alternative to a music scene that was largely house influenced dance music or straight guitar rock.
ARTIVIST : creative is booking & contracting the band for performances in New Zealand & beyond, managing logistics & collaboratively developing new media content & production format to suit.
This management role is balanced with technical & content development & involves production & planning. Primarily the role of ARTIVIST : creative is to develop JVs & write contracts with promoters & producers.
New Media Development – Jack Morton Worldwide
Jack Morton Worldwide is the premier international Experiential Marketing Agency based in New York, and was founded in 1939 by Jack Morton as an entertainment production company; the company’s capabilities include strategy and planning, creative and design, production, fabrication and measurement.
The company was responsible for the Hong Kong changeover; Sydney, Athens & Bejing Olympic Games & the Manchester & Melbourne Commonwealth Games opening & closing ceremonies; International clients have included BMW, Sony, IBM, Subway Restaurants & HP.
JMW contracted ARTIVIST : creative JoFF Rae to develop new media for specific major projects, presentations & exhibitions with premier clients such as BMW, Cirque Du Soliel & Southern Cross Cable Networks. JoFF gathered a team of teenage hackers from Australia & Canada to develop new media systems in New Zealand, Australia & the USA involving unique & innovative streaming media products.
JoFF has worked from the Melbourne office of JMW & developed a studio there for the JMW projects, commuting from Wellington & Taupo, New Zealand to make Internationally award winning excercises!
Yellow Ribbon Fight For Life – Dean Lonergan Events
ARTIVIST : creative JoFF Rae designed & managed the award winning televised charity boxing matches & incorporated a circus element to the production – this was a ‘hands on’ operation & every piece of production experience was required to pull the event together.
Dean Lonergan had an idea & approached JoFF to help put it together; JoFF developed the idea & designed a suitable production involving high quality concert systems, a giant LED wall & show specific graphics, a show band & the circus element with Webber Bros’ Circus… then an independent production of a documentary & show graphics mixed with high quality catering for 1000 ($15,000 ringside tables) & the TV3 Live OB (4 hour live to air), crew & presenters made for a massive production of a unique & international standard!
The event won a Qantas Media Award for its broadcast, broke all records for viewer numbers in New Zealand (higher than the National News & for 4 hours!) & made over $1 Million dollars for the Yellow Ribbon Trust.
Taupo District Council
ARTIVIST : !@M3 sponsored, designed & managed all aspects of concert production & promotion for Youth Week, 23 -31 May 2009 at Taupo…
The festival’s biggest night was Saturday night (30 May) with the ‘Rock yer clASS OFF’ concert [featuring] popular national band Midnight Youth performing, supported by local band Siezefire, Jamie Fitzgerald and Tauranga band The Kiss Goodbye.
MC Mana and DJ Scribble kept the evening running smoothly with over 500 local youth in attendance. A great time was had by all. – TDC website
ARTIVIST : creative designed all the promotional material with a fresh logo & program format made by Cole Holyoake & JoFF Rae; the booking & production of Midnight Youth was a stroke of ARTIVIST : genius as the band had just returned to NZ from the US & dropped a new album going direct to number 2 in the charts & the band would make the highest NZ radio play in the week of their Taupo gig!
ARTIVIST : production for the Rock Yer clASS oFf was minimal lighting with some effective visual components involving 3 large screens behind the band; the visuals provided excellent exposure for the key sponsors – !@M3, Hell Pizza, Senjo Security & TDC.
